The SUSTAIN team in Nigeria had the privilege of engaging with German partners during a skilled migration and partnership mission held on March 9, 2026.
The meeting was convened by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH #Nigeria through the Centres for Migration and Development (ZME) programme in collaboration with sequa gGmbH.
This engagement provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on skills development, labour mobility, and partnerships that support safe and regular migration pathways.
Participants included representatives from:
• Berufsförderungswerk der Bauindustrie (BFW) – North Rhein Westphalia (a construction-focused vocational training institute)
• IHK Reutlingen
• Bildungswerk der Bayerischen Wirtschaft (bbw).
• Staff of Seefar Foundation implementing SUSTAIN
• GIZ Nigeria staff (ZME and sequa)
The discussion highlighted the importance of cross-country collaboration in building skills partnerships and promoting responsible migration opportunities for Nigerian professionals.
